This painting shows El Capitan and Bridal Veil Falls in Yosemite National Park. Yosemite Valley was the third such area in the United States to be designated by the federal government as a park, after Yellowstone and Sequoia. Establishing Yosemite Valley as a park was an historical milestone of public responsibility for conservation in America.
