This is a photograph showing a soldier getting his last cup of stateside coffee before shipping off from the Oakland Army Base to South East Asia to fight in the Vietnam War. The United States troop levels were significantly increased in 1965, when this photograph was taken, from 23,300 in 1964 to 184,300 in 1965.
