The postcard shows a family of Chinese refugees at a camp following the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and fire. With virtually all of Chinatown destroyed, most of its inhabitants fled to cities in the East Bay, such as Oakland, or moved to the refugee camp at the west end of the Presidio.
