Struggle and strength

During the civil rights era, people of many races struggled to gain rights that had been granted to whites for many generations. This was a time of much action against oppressive structures which lead to strong communities of resistance. The Brown Berets and Black Panthers were two of the groups that forged connections under strong leaders, who truly took responsibilty for what mattered most- equal rights and justice.

Native Californians and Christianity

Before Europeans, California was inhabited by many native tribes. Each tribe had its own set of religious beliefs. Then, missionaries from south of California (and originally from Europe) brought the religion of Christianity.
