This is a photograph of a rally organized by the Black Panther Party to show support for Huey Newton. The rally took place in front of the Alameda Country Court House in Oakland, California in July 1968. The Black Panther Party was co-founded by Huey Newton and Bobby Seale and as stated by the organization, was organized to serve the needs of the oppressed people in black communities and defend them against their oppressors.
