This painting shows a portrait of an Ohlone Indian man. The man is depicted wearing a traditional feathered headdress while performing a ceremonial dance The Ohlone people were forced to live in the Missions in and around San Francisco Bay. Despite the wishes of the priests, many Indians continued to practice their traditional culture within the missions.
